Mayflower Bus and Coach is to invest £15m in a parts manufacturing and kitting facility at Larbert in Central Scotland, near its production centre in Falkirk.

The investment is part of a £40m investment programme over the next three to five years announced by John Flemming, Mayflower Bus and Coach chairman.

`Our objective is to stay at the forefront and to globalise the business,’ Flemming said.

The company has recently won two large orders valued at £37m for buses for Hong Kong and the UK. First it concluded a £22m deal with Kowloon Motor Bus to supply 140 units in the new year. The following day it tied up a £15m contract with Arriva for the supply of 215 bus bodies and chassis, including 61 ALX 400 double-deck bus bodies.
