No more wobble, no more stiffness

Newport’s motorised annular rotation stages meet exceptional wobble, stiffness and concentricity standards, says the company.

When supplied with an optional glass scale encoder, they provide 0.001 resolution and a positional accuracy of 0.005.

Made from stainless steel with preloaded double row ball bearings, the RV series stages are available in 80mm to 350mm diameters for payloads up to 6500N.

Used with a DC servo drive delivering 14Nm torque, they are capable of annular speeds up to 80 /sec.

The RV series has an inner precision cylinder bore, making the stage suitable for compound positioning systems.

Targeting food industry customers, stainless steel roller/conveyor chain from Renold is made from solid rather than split roller chain, preventing a build up of contaminants.

Branded Renold Coris, the chain operates in the temperature range -40 C to +400 C and is highly resistant to acids and alkalis, the company says.

Nitrile rubber collar seals developed by SKF protect bearings in contaminated, wet or dusty environments.

The GK range suits high rotational shaft speeds and is available in 20 sizes covering shafts from 20mm to 150mm.

They are easy to install, the company says, typically for use in cement factories, steel mills, mines, quarries, the paper industry and fans.

Backlash-free bearings are important to spark erosion machinery maker Concept EDM which has moved into high-accuracy milling with the XYZ Micromill developed to produce small 2D and 3D profiles within a 140mm3 working volume.

The company chose THK LM guides, ballscrews and bearing supports mounted on heavy castings on a granite base to provide maximum damping necessary for superfine finishes.

With up to 60,000rpm spindle speeds, the machine can be used to grind ceramics and die steels to a polished mirror finish.

Linear motion company Igus has added to its lubrication free bearings range, DryLin, with a range of pillow blocks that are used to support rotating shafts.

The simple design incorporates the housing, made from hard anodised aluminium, and the company’s Iglidur J sliding bearing. Pillow blocks are usually made by fitting a standard bearing into someone else’s adaptor.

DryLin pillow blocks are interchangeable with standard conventional bearing housings and are available in short or long, open or split, versions.
