Engineer MPs Lawrie Quinn and Claire Curtis-Thomas with Millennium Dome designers Colin Acus and Ian Liddell, who have won the Royal Academy of Engineering’s MacRobert Award. The engineers, who work at consulting firm Buro Happold, used Teflon-coated fibreglass to produce a design which is cheaper per square metre than a retail warehouse. The Dome, the world’s largest fabric building, is on schedule to open on 31 December.
