A contract which would secure thousands of UK jobs could be jeopardised after intervention by the USgovernment. The US believes an order for the Black Shaheen missile (pictured) from the United Arab Emirates breaches international arms controls. The missile would be made at Matra BAe Dynamics’ Stevenage plant in Hertfordshire and at Filton near Bristol. It would carry a Broach warhead, made by BAe’s Royal Ordnance subsidiary in Glascoed, Wales.
