Regional development agency, Advantage West Midlands, has submitted a planning application to develop the former Jaguar site at Browns Lane in Coventry.

Working with property group Goodman, Advantage West Midlands is proposing to make the 30-hectare site into a mixed-use development that will focus on attracting new manufacturing companies into the area.

The outline planning application incorporates 82,000m2 of space for industrial and distribution uses, 7,000m2 of high-quality office space and 172 dwellings, including a proportion of affordable housing.

Steve Holland, head of asset management at Advantage West Midlands, said: ‘The submission of this application marks a key milestone in the Browns Lane, mixed-use development. This scheme will play a significant part in the regeneration of the area and strengthen Coventry’s role in the West Midlands economy by attracting manufacturing companies to the region and creating more jobs.

‘This is an excellent example of how Advantage West Midlands is working successfully with our local and regional partners, making long-term plans for the region’s economy and supporting the schemes that will have the greatest impact on the West Midlands.’

Graham Pardoe, Goodman’s development director for UK logistics, added: ‘This is a major development which has the potential to bring significant economic benefits to Coventry. We have worked closely with our partner and alongside a range of stakeholders to submit an application that we believe provides the right mix of manufacturing, office and residential amenities.

‘As a company we have a global reputation for delivering quality facilities and providing our customers and business partners with genuine value-added business space solutions. We are very excited about the development potential of this site and are looking forward to progressing the scheme in partnership with Advantage West Midlands.’
