MoD formally launches £1.5bn aircraft carriers project

The Ministry of Defence this week formally launched its £1.5bn project for two large aircraft carriers, announced in last year’s Strategic Defence Review. The merged BAe Defence Systems and Marconi, plus France’s Thomson-CSF and US firms Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Raytheon, have been asked to bid for the initial assessment phase.
