The Ministry of Defence said this week that it may buy a mine detection, neutralisation and route-proving system called Minder. The ten-year programme will be worth up to £100m.
Expressions of interest for the contract were due in to the MoD today (Friday).
The prime contractor will work in partnership with the MoD to produce two Minder variants: the route-proving Minder RP and the reconnaissance version, Minder Recce.
The latter will be fitted to the army’s Future Engineer versions of reconnaissance vehicles such as MRAV and Tracer.
An invitation to tender should be issued next July, with tenders due in by December 1999.
