Microsoft is now completing the porting of its Microsoft Windows CE OS to the Intel architecture – bringing to five the number of microprocessor families now supported by CE directly for embedded systems. 486 and Pentium are covered. Others include: SH-3, Hitachi; MIPS-based processors, NEC and Philips; Advanced RISC Machines processors; and PowerPC.
