US-based motor industry strategy consultant Ludvigsen Associates has appointed Malcolm Mather as market research director. Mather, who will be based in London, will help develop the consultant’s market research activities.
Born in 1946 in Kent, Mather gained a BA in Psychology from Clare College, Cambridge, before joining Unilever as a trainee. In 1971 he joined Gallup as a research executive. Within seven years he was promoted to the board of Gallup London, becoming a shareholder in 1978.
Following the sale of Gallup London to Gallup US in 1994, Mather became senior vice-president of the combined companies’ international division. He founded his own market research firm, MRM Projects, which is exclusively affiliated with Ludvigsen in the automotive sector.
Mather joins Ludvigsen to head its recently launched problem-solving market research service. Ludvigsen believes that modern industry’s demands, such as the need for suppliers to understand customers better, requires greater outsourcing of services, and a demanding and better informed customer base.
