Three machines in the Rapid-Tap range, which simultaneously taps several holes, have been launched by Centreline.

One is a semi-automatic machine with a pneumatically operated slide to advance the fixtured component in the Centinel multi-spindle tapping head.

It is claimed to have 50% higher throughput rates compared with manually fed machines because the operator does not have to feed the component into the head.

A second semi-automatic version incorporates a leadscrew to assist the feed, and is intended for roll tapping up to M16 and similar heavy-duty applications.

The third model is a manually fed machine on which the fixture slide is fitted with a brake to reduce operator fatigue when feeding heavy components into the multi-tapping head.
