Software firm Manufacturing Products and Services (Maps), based in Leeds, has acquired Esta Monitoring Systems, which supplies machine monitoring systems to the process industry, for an undisclosed sum.
Finishing equipment manufacturer Binks has been sold by Binks Sames Group to US firm Illinois Tool Works. The sale includes Binks’ European headquarters based in Brownhills, West Midlands, together with subsidiaries in Belgium and Germany.

Bodycote Materials Testing has acquired the former Rolls-Royce International Research and Development laboratory which includes a high temperature creep lab in Walker, Newcastle.
Lizard snapped up
Lizard Electronic Developments, an electronic hardware and software design and production company based in Penryn, Cornwall, has been acquired by Teddington Controls of St Austell. Teddington makes industrial and domestic appliance control products, and is part of SLD Holdings.
British Steel has invested nearly £4m in an extension to its Tipton cold rolled products site, which produces narrow strip steel. The investment includes a new rolling mill and a new hydrogen annealing furnace.
