* MORE THAN a logic module; in fact, a replacement for relays, timers, counters, contactors and micro PLCs – that’s Siemens’ innovative `Logo!’.

Siemens argues that most micro PLCs have gone up-market, with comms, floating point maths, etc.

Logo! now provides six digital inputs, four outputs and a status LED. The lot is compressed into 72 x 90 x 55mm, and costs around £100. It’s aimed at an array of small control applications.

* A NEW NANO PLC has been launched by Schneider, to further compliment its Modicon TSX range of PLCs. This is the first Nano PLC claimed to offer simultaneous analogue input and output, and consequently the ability to read variable signals. It is available in three sizes – 10, 16 and 24I/O. It can be connected to an MMI terminal as well as a PC at the same time.
