Blackburn movers

Avesta Sheffield is to consolidate activities in Blackburn by moving its Cyclops Engineering business from Sheffield to the site, and opening a process service centre for high-performance steel plates. Avesta also plans to invest in processing facilities, including a second laser machine and forming rolls.

Good vibrations

Assessment Services has completed a £400,000 investment in its environmental test laboratory in Fareham, Hampshire, with the installation of a vibration controller. It will be used to control the test facility’s Ling Dynamic Systems 984 magnetic shaker, the only one of its kind in the UK capable of testing radar systems, railway and transportation equipment, as well as consumer products such as mobile phones.

Allianz UK-bound

Allianz Cornhill International is merging its Special Risk and Construction operations with ACE Engineering Insurance to create Allianz Cornhill Engineering. The move signals Allianz’s intention to become more involved, in association with Cornhill, in the UK commercial market. The operation will have centres in London, Glasgow, Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham.

Arrk’s two into one

Arrk is to merge its two UK rapid prototyping companies after purchasing Formation’s assets from receivers. The joint operation, Arrk Formation, will be based in Gloucester, with a London sales office.
