Enterprise Oil will close its Nelson field in the North Sea next week for up to five days to remove a Second World War bomb from beside the export pipeline.

The operator will flood the 25km line from the Nelson production platform with water to minimise any risk of environmental damage during the operation, which will be carried out by a remotely operated subsea vehicle at a cost of up to £400,000.
