Weir Group subsidiaries Weir Pumps and Hopkinsons have won orders worth over £5m to supply pumps and valves to the North Sea oil industry. The Elgin Alliance, comprising Elf, TPG, McDermott and Barmac, has awarded Weir Pumps a £2.3m order for three barrel-casing pumpsets for the Elgin/Franklin field development. A second order, from Esso Norge and worth nearly £1.5m, is for four 1MW diesel-driven fire pumpsets for the Balder floating production system in the Norwegian sector. A third £1.3m order is to supply ball valves to the Machar waterflood subsea project, off Aberdeen.
