Broadcast engineer National Transcommunications (NTL), formerly part of the Independent Broadcasting Authority, has won a £5m contract to supply the Lancashire Ambulance Trust with a private mobile radio network.

Awarded under the private finance initiative, the contract will see NTL manage an analogue network for 10 years.

The network will link an ambulance control centre to the area’s main hospitals, 24 ambulance stations, ambulances and patient transport vehicles.
