Coventry-based internet services company IS4B has developed a web front-end tool that will provide a database for any organisation trying to maintain information about the training and career development of its staff.

The software’s first application is as a testing and accreditation system for the DfEE funded project which is providing CAD/CAM training for secondary schools, colleges and universities.

A major feature of the site is the option for online testing. Teachers will be able to develop their own unique tests related to the standard CAD/CAM competencies – with students taking those tests and sending in papers online. This also has applications in the workplace too, the developers believe.

`Many companies are now undertaking their own in-house training and education of staff, and combined with the massive uptake of internal intranets, the potential for adopting on-line testing and accreditation is enormous,’ says Lawrence Shaw, chief executive officer of IS4B.

The site is currently undergoing final development with pilot schools in the Midlands. www.cadinschools.org
