Startup company MMI Solutions’ operator control panel aims to fill the gap between a low-cost, limited-function unit and a £6,000 high-end, fully functional Scada control system.
MMI’s unit costs £1,995, and is described as a true industrial PC.
A cut-down version of Intellution’s FIX 32 Scada software provides historical data and event logging as well as trending functions, high-power front-end graphics and a PLC driver.
The unit has a 1Gb hard drive, 3.5 floppy disc drive, 32MB RAM, keyboard and mouse ports, as well as a PLC and a parallel port. Expansion is via three free ISA and a PC card slot with a choice of 100MHz or 200MHz Pentium processor.
PBE Systems has been appointed UK distributor for the range of human machine interface products from US firm CTC Parker Automation. Described as PC-based scaleable workstations, they feature a removable ‘flash’ cartridge to simplify development and maintenance support through fast and easy software updates.
