Emissions of carbon monoxide and operating temperatures from paint oven incinerator stacks at Vauxhall Motors in Luton are being monitored by Honeywell’s SCAN 3000 system.

The Windows NT version provides a graphical interface, with reports that are both on-screen and hard copy. Honeywell Series 9000 loop and logic controllers monitor analysis data and status. Measurements are taken by the latest infrared 7100M stack gas analyser, from Signal Instruments.

The systems fulfil the requirements of environmental legislation that both the CO emissions and temperature of the incinerators are monitored to verify the destruction of VOCs.

As CO emissions are also a measure of combustion efficiency, the data will be used by Vauxhall to enhance oven efficiency, as well as comply with environmental legislation.
