The electromechnical division of Parker Hannifin plans to shut down its manufacturing facility in Poole, Dorset.

The electromechnical division of Parker Hannifin plans to shut down its manufacturing facility in Poole, Dorset in the UK.

Production at the facility, which employs 72 people in the design and manufacture of motion control equipment, will be transferred to locations in Germany and Italy by the end of September 2003.

Customer service, sales and support departments, however, will remain in Poole.

According to general manager Nigel Allman, the decision to transfer production was made reluctantly, but it was necessary to eliminate duplicate manufacturing capacity in a time of increasing pressure to reduce costs and remain competitive.
