Operations chief leaves with £300,000 deal

Operations director Paul Ryder has left Wimborne-based aerospace components firm Meggitt after an 18-month restructuring.

He resigned on 10 January and will receive a compensation package of £300,000. Ryder had run the engineering control business which was sold off 12 months ago. He recently oversaw the work of the heads of the firm’s six new business units. His departure follows the resignation of deputy chairman Nigel McCorkell earlier this month.

* Plastic and metals components group MecKechnie is to replace departing chief executive, Michael Ost, with Andrew Walker, formerly group chief executive of Swalec.

Graham Wallace takes over as chief executive of Cable & Wireless Communications, the organisation to be formed by the merger of Mercury Communications, Nynex CableComms, Bell Cablemedia and Videotron.

TI Group has appointed Clive Stearnes as chief executive of the polymer division of John Crane International.

Malcolm Bates, deputy managing director at GEC, is leaving to become non-executive chairman of electronics group Premier Farnell.

The Federation of Electronic Industries’ director general is Anthony Parish. He has a marketing background at IBM and since 1991 has been an independent consultant.

Gert Schyborger will be the president of Saab Aircraft. He is the current president of defence electronics company CelsiusTech.

Nigel Salter is technical director, Weyburn-Bartel Camshaft Group. He continues as technical director for Weyburn-Lydmet.

Marino Kacala, a product business line manager at Atlas Copco Group company Desoutter, will join Siebe company Compair Reaval as product marketing director.

Roy Attwood, from Bolton Institute’s Technology Development Unit, has been appointed programme coordinator of a new advanced electronics MSc.

Dr John Attridge, a consultant and former principal scientist at Serono, is new chief scientist at space company Chelsea Instruments.

Mott MacDonald, London-based consulting engineer, has promoted Mike Blackburn to the main group board from managing director of Mott Connell.

Dr Julia King former Rolls-Royce Aerospace Group head of materials, becomes director of advanced engineering at the firm’s Industrial Power Group. New head of materials is Dr Mike Hicks.
