European manager for National Semiconductor

National Semiconductor, the California-based chip manufacturer with a wafer fabrication plant in Greenock, has appointed Roland Andersson as general manager for Europe. He replaces Hans Rohrer.

Andersson, who will be based in Germany, has been promoted from director of strategic business development Europe. He was previously director of sales, Europe, area sales director and regional sales manager for the northern European region.

* Babtie Group, the engineering consultancy group, has promoted three senior managers. David Gibby has been appointed divisional director of Babtie’s public services division.

Roger Colton is technical director at the Babtie-BMT (Hong Kong) operation. James Owen is now technical director of Babtie subsidiary, Murdoch Green.

The electricity association has chosen Swalec chief executive, John Roberts, to be its president.

Professor Keith Hayward is to become the head of research at the Society of British Aerospace Companies. He comes on secondment from the University of Staffordshire, where he is professor of international relations.

Dr Bernard Rickinson, a main board director of Bodycote International and managing director of the Bodycote HIP subsidiary, is to be chief executive of the Institute of Materials. He takes over from Dr Catterall, who is retiring.

Paul Rocheleau is to succeed Robin Paul at Albright & Wilson as chief executive officer from 1 August. He worked previously at Mobil Chemicals and Du Pont.

Ryford, the West Midlands based injection moulder, has made Richard Davies its business manager.

Andrew Hooper has left his job of European export manager at Mitsubishi Carbide, to become managing director of LMT Fette, the new trading umbrella for Kieninger Tooling.

* The Confederation of British Forgers has appointed Neil Marshall as its director general. He comes from the Retail Motor Industry Federation, where he was policy director

* Alan Wilson has been appointed to the main board of Kvaerner Oil and Gas, a division of Kvaerner ASA. His position will be business development director
