Cambridge-based Amino Communications has teamed up with beeTV, inventor of the Personal Content Channel (PCC), to develop a recommendation-based personalised TV service using Amino’s range of set-top boxes.
The PCC product uses contextual recommendation algorithms that take into account a viewer’s habits, preferences, viewing history and current trends. The device, which is used within the set-top box, sources content from broadcast TV, subscription TV and video on demand (VoD) for use on a separate channel.
According to the group, its interface allows providers to increase their VoD consumption and improve customer acquisition and retention, as well as manage content-marketing activities.
Yoram Granit, chief executive at beeTV, said: ‘We are very excited to be working with Amino, whose name is known throughout the IPTV industry for quality, cutting-edge products and innovative solutions. We see tremendous opportunities in working across the entire range of Amino boxes and with different partners.’
Kevin Lingley, Amino’s head of solutions strategy, added: ‘The solution has real possibilities for the viewer and the service provider alike. This will revolutionise the way viewers consume content and we are always looking for ways the service provider can reduce churn and increase customer satisfaction.’
