Measuring the pitch, roll, bump and droop of the suspension of TVR cars can help shave vital seconds off lap times.

Penny & Giles HLP190 linear potentiometers are fitted in parallel with each shock absorber and provide information to fine tune a car to a particular circuit and a particular driver.

Graphs produced by the logging system allow engineers to monitor any point in the circuit. If the suspension hits the bump stops, engineers can either increase the ride height or change the shocks.

It’s critical stuff; typically, a racing TVR Tuscan can hit 201mph and a season’s racing can cost £45,000. 44 entrants are expected to compete in this year’s Tuscan challenge at Brands Hatch.
