PROCESS CONTROL

Software for single or complex stations

The latest NT version of Cegelec’s Alspa P1200 Scada software package runs under Windows NT.

It is the first of a new genonsoftware packages.

Cegelec says it is equally suitable for use in a low-cost single control station with just a few I/O points as it is within a complex multiple station, muti-screen, redundant system with many thousands of I/O points.

A Max Wright control panel supplied to soft drinks maker Britvic enables Tango, Pepsi or any other drink to be mixed to production requirements, based on programs held within a Siemens programmable logic controller.

Information on the different drink mixtures is held in memory and displayed on a screen built into the Max Wright panel.

This man-machine interface (MMI) allows the operator to control the process, which comprises transfer of ingredients from two outside storage silos and batch blending of water and syrup in two product mix tanks inside.

Before a new production run starts, cleaning of the stainless steel tanks and pipework is started by the MMI, which talks to a separate cleaning-in-place controller.

The Modicon TSX 07 Nano programmable controller from automation specialist Contelec meets the needs of applications requiring between 10 and 48 I/Os.

Powerful facilities include realtime clock and high-speed counting options.

Two controllers may be interconnected so one works as the main unit and the other an extension module.

Cycle times of just 3 milliseconds per 1,000 instructions ensure rapid response to fast-changing plant conditions, the company says.

The Allen-Bradley Process Logix system provides a highly integrated control solution specifically for middle-ground process control applications.

It combines a powerful server-based distributed control system with the next generation Allen-Bradley architecture for integrated control, says supplier Rockwell Automation.

It combines the best of DCS technology usually associated with control of analogue variables, typically in petrochemical applications, with the discrete control capability of PLCs, used mainly to control on/off variables in automotive and similar industries.
