Global manufacturing operations at Renault have been optimised using an internet-based collaboration package for process planning throughout its supply chain.

Faced with a need to improve manufacturing processes, accelerate time-to-market and expand collaboration with suppliers around the world, Renault sought advanced process planning technology from Israel-based software house Tecnomatix Technologies.

Tecnomatix recently introduced a new line of web-enabled applications called emPower for modelling, process communication, document management and collaboration.

Using components of Tecnomatix e-Manufacturing software, Renault developed a Trans-Atlantic virtual manufacturing programme with the US branch of Mack Trucks, so all departments work concurrently during the design stage.
