Ian Rennie has been appointed vice-president of engineering giant ABB’s newly formed drives business, Component AC Drives.

Rennie will take on responsibility for the global drives business below 45kW. He will also retain full managerial responsibility for the UK drives business, where he has been general manager for drives, products and systems since 1993.

He will be based in the UK. The Component AC Drives business head office is based in Finland.

Ronald Baars, currently general manager of Rovin, a 50:50 joint venture between Shell and Akzo Nobel, based in the Netherlands, is to be promoted to purchasing director Akzo Nobel.
