Development of a conformity assessment scheme for safety-related IT systems products will be undertaken by Eutech Engineering in Northwich.

Under the Sector Challenge Initiative, Eutech has been awarded £285,000 by the DTI as a grant towards the £625,000 project, which will be based on the accepted international safety standard, IEC 1508.

Stuart Nunns, from Eutech, says: ‘This will allow UK companies to meet the requirements of IEC 1508 under an internationally recognised scheme, and improve the competitiveness of the safety-related systems industry’.

The scheme will take two years to complete and will involve collaboration with supply trade associations as well as assessment bodies.
