Renishaw, the Gloucestershire metrology company, is to invest £15m in its manufacturing facilities, creating up to 100 jobs.

The company plans to invest in a new two-floor 5,000m2 research and development facility and a 10,000m2 manufacturing building.

It will move its transducer systems division from Wotton-under-Edge to its site at New Mills, transferring about 100 staff.

The new facilities will require up to 100 extra workers, bringing the Renishaw UK workforce to 700.

`Growth of our sales overseas is pushing this expansion,’ said Ben Taylor, assistant chief executive.

Renishaw generates 80% of its sales from overseas. It saw a 49% rise in profits last year, due in part to a rise in turnover in Italy and the Far East.
