A national network of one-stop shops to promote science and technology through education-business links will be opened next week.
The Science Engineering Technology and Mathematics Network (Setnet) plans to set up 30 regional centres called Setpoints across the UK. Each Setpoint will offer information to businesses and schools. The focus will be on science, mathematics and technology as key curriculum subjects.
`Our aim is to ensure that the teaching of science, mathematics and technology in schools excites in more students a taste for a career in engineering or related skills,’ said Dr Ray Peacock, chief executive of Setnet.
Setnet is one of the outcomes of Action for Engineering which disbanded last year.
