Siebe is to acquire Predictive Control, the Northwich, firm known for its Connoisseur MBPC for batch/discontinuous processes.

Connoisseur has been credited with a number of successes. It is shown to reduce standard deviation by a factor of two, improve plant efficiency, throughput and yield and cut energy consumption by 3-10%. It’s formed the basis of several UK ETSU studies.

Siebe sees the acquisition as adding yet more strength to its advanced control solutions. Martin Ward, Foxboro UK’s managing director, said: `Connoisseur is already used extensively by companies throughout the world; many are Foxboro customers, but with others it will undoubtedly offer opportunities.’

Ray Dutton, managing director of Predictive Controls, added: `It’s a great opportunity to make the big time – to take Connoisseur into the international arena with the support of the Foxboro team.’
