Siemens Power Generation Group has produced its 10 millionth fuel rod. Together with another 204 rods it formed a fuel assembly unit which will be used in the Stade nuclear power plant. The two kilograms of uranium within a fuel rod produce in their lifetime in-core energy for more than 1GWh of electricity, which has an energy equivalent to that produced by 300 tonnes of coal.
