Haden Drysys Environmental has developed a single-canister regenerative oxidiser (SCO) capable of converting pollutant-laden process exhaust streams into useful heat, carbon dioxide and water vapour. The SCO is over 99% efficient at destroying volatile organic compounds and other hazardous air pollutants. The SCO is split into segments, each of which is filled with thermal efficiency-boosting heat transfer media – either ceramic saddles or structured packing. The media improve fuel efficiency and eliminate the need for secondary fuel. The SCO has a patented cycling system to minimise leakage. It is suited to systems which are sensitive to pressure fluctuations as it is capable of smoothing them out.
