The Government’s Action 2000 campaign committee this week complained that manufacturers were failing to act to combat the millennium bug.
A quarterly survey of small and medium-sized businesses found that only one in four of respondents had taken action on the problem but almost 75% thought they were doing enough.
Don Cruickshank, Action 2000’s chairman, criticised industry for believing it was prepared when it was not. ‘Too many still believe it is just about their computers and not about every bit of business equipment, business environment and every business relationship they have.’
Last week, Action 2000 started a £10m marketing and advertising campaign. A national television and radio campaign starts in August, and a new information pack is now available. Telephone 0845 601 2000 for details.
