Up to 100 extra jobs are to be created at the Plymouth base of engineering company Standard Products.

The US-owned firm, which makes sealing systems and trims for the auto industry, is creating the jobs to establish a main plastics and rubber division at the site. The move follows the loss of 150 jobs at Standard Products’ plant at Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire.

A spokesman said: `By consolidating rubber and plastic manufacture at Plymouth and also at our site in Maesteg [South Wales], we hope to achieve significant economies of scale.’
