Food and lifestyle guru Sir Terence Conran has moved into a bigger 1,860m2 warehouse, more than doubling capacity for drink and non-perishable food products delivered to London eateries such as Quaglino’s with room to cater for future openings. Orders, down to the level of individual bottles from a stock of around 6,000 items, are highly picking-orientated with twice-daily deliveries to each restaurant. A K10 man-operated order picker from Lansing Linde capable of order picking and pallet handling is used to pick stock and put away palletised goods on a third of the stock held on the five upper levels. A R14 reach truck unloads lorries.

As an alternative to metal stillages and wooden boxes, Linpac has developed a returnable folding pallet primarily for automotive use. With a 500g capacity, it folds to 40% of its erected height when not in use.
