The costs of correcting potential faults caused by the millennium bug will, we are told, have to be born by users.

For business, that means additional costs and reduced profits. For Government, it means taxpayers, whether corporate or individual, will foot the bill.

Why has the Government not acted to place responsibility where it truly lies with the original suppliers of equipment?

Unless it can be shown that the Supply of Goods Act or other legislation is absolutely adequate, the Government should produce a new measure, very quickly, to enable all updating costs to be passed back to suppliers and manufacturers.
