Millbrook Proving Ground’s new engine test centre, which opened last week, boasts two 250kW transient dynamometers, which allow drive cycles to be simulated, or an engine’s performance to be tested in any vehicle without building a prototype. Data obtained from the vehicle on the test track is input, allowing the dynamometer to simulate it in the engine test cell. The £6m development, which features 12 dynamometer cells fitted with Ricardo Test Automation T2000 computer data logging, will complement Millbrook’s existing emissions labs (pictured) and create 30 new jobs.
