Signalling rail economies

The railway signalling profession may take pride in the fact that the art it practises is proving to be one of the best means by which the railways are effecting economies. For instance, on the London, Midland and Scottish, 57 schemes in the past two years have been completed, saving £12,257 a year, giving a return of 47% on the outlay involved. Further economies on that line have been sanctioned which will yield another £11,500 per annum, and it is hoped eventually to achieve a total of £100,000 a year.
