The East Midlands Development Agency (emda) has released £2.5m-worth of funding through Transport iNet to support innovation among the region’s transport businesses.

Jointly funded by emda and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), Transport iNet will be located at the Systems Engineering Innovation Centre (SEIC) at Loughborough University and is actively seeking applicants for support and funding.

Under the scheme, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will be able to access up to £10,000 to source external expertise that will boost innovation in their projects as well as gain support in the areas of finance for research collaborations with universities.

The funding is also expected to support more than 40 information events taking place in the east Midlands aimed at highlighting key issues affecting the aerospace, rail, marine, automotive and motorsport industries.
