TriMedia Technologies to develop VLIW processor

Philips Electronics and Sony have set up a processor and software development company to help electronics firms develop advanced digital consumer products. TriMedia Technologies, based in California, will build on the very long instruction word (VLIW) processor technology developed by Philips. Likely products include televisions, set-top boxes, personal video recorders, security devices and surveillance systems.
