The UK Atomic Energy Authority may be prosecuted over the contamination of two of its workers with enough plutonium to give them radiation doses of more than four times the annual legal limit.

The Nuclear Installations Inspectorate has sent files on the cases of both men to the Procurator Fiscal. The inspectorate is still considering a third case, which involves a lower – but still illegal – level of contamination.
