Unigraphics has introduced a web-based collaborative design tool which offers improved visualisation of 3D models and 2D drawings in the extended manufacturing enterprise.

ProductVision 3 offers better integration with Intergraph’s product data management software iMan and UGS CAD/CAM/CAE applications. It has a conferencing module that allows real-time collaboration between sites via the internet.

ProductVision/Visualiser professional has an extended range of 2D functions and can perform four-point angle measurements over multiple layers.

ProductVison/Mockup offers automatic contact, penetration detection and NURBS-based clearance analysis, plus analysis and assembly modules with multi-media animation creations and component extraction analysis.

Penbarley Designs, a Luton-based automotive design house, has installed an £80,000 UGS CAD/CAM system and iMan PDM software for vehicle development. Penbarley replaced its former CAD system so that it could undertake design work for General Motors, which has standardised on UGS CAD/CAM and iMan PDM software.

Penbarley designer Phil Pounder said: `For the General Motors project, the UGS system enables everyone involved in the design process, including component suppliers, to get a better perspective as the design evolves.’
