The new Airbus A3XX super jumbo project could be blocked by legal action from the US government. The US is concerned that the project may be receiving unfair subsidies from European governments in the form of low interest loans. US trade representatives have asked the UK and Germany to hand over precise details of their funding arrangements before deciding on a possible complaint to the World Trade Organisation. The A3XX, which was finally given the go-ahead last week, will compete directly with US aircraft manufacturer Boeing’s 747.
