An innovative composite building system from UK consultant Maunsell is set to make big inroads into the world building and bridge construction market, following a licensing agreement with US composite specialist Strongwell.

Maunsell has pioneered interlocking ‘pultruded’ fibre-reinforced polymer panels to enclose the underside of bridges, including the Second Severn Crossing.

In the US, Maunsell’s Advanced Composite Construction System (ACCS) will be first used for buildings because a well-developed market for composite building panels already exists.

Strongwell, the world’s largest pultrusion manufacturer, will market the system for buildings worldwide and for bridges in the US and Mexico. Maunsell will market ACCS for bridges in the rest of the world.
