Vodafone Airtouch has sold mobile phone company Orange to France Telecom for £25bn. The deal will create Europe’s second largest mobile phone company. Orange will be merged with France Telecom’s other mobile phone activities to become New Orange, which will have £4.9bn in revenues by the end of the year. The company will be floated on the London, New York and Paris stock exchanges, and will have operations in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Portugal and Eastern Europe.
