The Port of Ramsgate and two Swedish companies were convicted at the Old Bailey on Monday of breaking safety laws when a walkway at the port collapsed killing six passengers in 1994.

The jury decided that Port Ramsgate, the operating company, had breached the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Docks Regulations. Swedish companies FEAB and FKAB, which manufactured and installed the walkway, were convicted under the Health and Safety at Work Act.
