Instruments meet Fieldbus standard

Two products from Yokogawa are claimed to be the world’s first instruments to pass new interoperability tests specified by the Fieldbus Foundation.

The enhanced EJA Series pressure transmitter and the YVP valve positioner both meet the requirements of the new FF R4 interoperability test system.

The EJA A Series is an evolution of Yokogawa’s family of field proven high-performance pressure transmitters, and features Yokogawa’s digital sensing technology. As a result, there is no need for analogue to digital conversion, providing a totally digital measurement path from sensor to workstation.

The YVP Series is a family of intelligent valve positioners, which provide a control system with feedback on the actual valve position as well as several other variables, which can be used for troubleshooting and diagnostics. The YVP will mount directly on to existing valves, making it easy to upgrade an analogue valve to fieldbus technology.

‘Interoperability is arguably the most important challenge facing the Fieldbus Foundation, since free communication between devices is a pre-requisite of any commercially viable Fieldbus system,’ commented David Tipton, sales and marketing director of the process measurement products division of Yokogawa UK.
