Intel has unveiled a range of 10 high-performance Intel Core 2 Duo and Intel Core 2 Extreme processors which it claims give improved performance while consuming less power.
The Intel Core 2 Duo processors are built in high-volume output manufacturing facilities using Intel’s 65-nanometre silicon process technology. The desktop PC version of the processors provide up to a 40 per cent increase in performance and are more than 40 per cent more energy efficient versus Intel's previous best processor.
The processor family is based on the Intel Core microarchitecture, designed to provide powerful, energy-efficient performance. The chips use dual cores, or computing engines, allowing the processors to manage numerous tasks faster.
Intel has lined up 550 suppliers ready to sell computers or components based on the new processors.
