The Irish Defence Force has purchased DefenCell force protection systems from London-based J & S Franklin for deployment with their forces as part of a peacekeeping mission to Chad.
DefenCell will be used to build 400m of 2.5m high blast mitigation walls to protect ammunition stores.
DefenCell is air-droppable, man portable and its non-metallic structure means it can be pushed off the back of a lorry with no risk of damage. The non-metallic structure also protects against secondary shrapnel and does not interfere with communications
Walls of any thickness or length can be produced to suit ballistic and vehicle impact requirements. Locally available fill materials can be used to give DefenCell structural strength and integrity.
